Check Out The Old Cars That We've Been Looking At

old car junkyard

Ford car grill

You'll see old cars in the bush and visit hillbilly hoards. These classic cars are photographed where they are found, at old homestead sites and in fantastic farm collections.

Our photos and videos are mostly of "diamonds in the rust."

See what we've found peeking out of sheds or beside the barn. There's pictures and videos of oddballs, orphans and abandoned vintage automobiles.

You'll meet some interesting characters and get to check out their rusty relics.

If you like gazing at unrestored old cars and dreaming of what you might transform them into, you've come to the right place!

Come on in, meet Sam and find out about his old car-hunting ways.

the safest way to look at old cars

we're here for you twenty-four-seven/365.

"Caramel Crunch" a 1954 Chevy Bel Air

Chevy Bel Air

Sam was just a little kid the first time he saw this caramel coloured Bel Air in a small barn at an old farmyard. He'll never forget peering in a broken window and seeing the car there, with the dirt that had blown in from the fields settled high up on it's sides.

Chevy Bel Air

The brick house that once proudly stood on this homestead has been burned and it's remains pushed into it's basement. As you can see in the foreground of the picture above, the well pump is also a casualty, due to the field being extended as far as possible into the farmyard. This is one way to maximize the cropping area of the acreage.

Thankfully the whole farmyard, all of the trees, machinery and this sweet old Bel Air weren't all wiped out... as is often the case.

Mercy and respect are alive and well here… so far.

Recently when Sam revisited the farm, he found the car has now been pulled out of the shed that's pictured above.

Chevy Bel Air rear windows

Although someone had smashed a bunch of the windows, he was glad it hasn't met with a much worse fate, like being hauled away to a scrapyard.

In the Junkyard Junkeez video of Sam checking out this car (posted below), he marvels over all the chrome, points out how the 1954 sports his favourite Bel Air grill and mentions how nice it's blue-green tinted glass is.

This car has 50,000 miles on it and appears to be complete, with only the spark plug wires missing off the 6 cylinder engine. It would be a excellent parts car, the chrome away from damaged front end is in really great shape.

We will have to ask around and see if anyone knows the story of how this pretty car got the scars that sidelined it 40 plus years ago.

The crumpled fender speaks of damage received in an accident, and Sam was an eyewitness to this classic spending most of it's life parked in the barn. Sam doesn't think this is a death car, probably just the car was "killed", and not people. He wonders if it hit something like the back of a grain truck. It would be so interesting to fill in the blanks of this car's story!

Easter, Hillbilly-Style

Check out the following pictures and video of a trio of old Dodge trucks in the bush. Two of them are sporting the prettiest pastel colours. It was like finding some big 'ol Easter eggs that had been hidden away! Now that's what we would call a hillbilly-style Easter truck hunt!

First up:

Here's a Dodge Custom Cab packing a full load of scrub. How's that for a "green" ride. It's definitely environmentally friendly!

Next :

A pastel green "camouflaged" Dodge Fargo Custom Cab that's blending into it's hiding spot. Note the "Fargo" hood lettering and fender badge. The Fargo model name was only used in Canada.

And last:

(But not least!) Is a robin egg blue Dodge Custom Cab. Although Sam was partial to the Fargo, he was really drooling over the automatic shifter set into the face of the dash of this truck. In the video you'll hear him say he'd only ever seen one before.

Sam checks out three Dodge Custom Cabs from the 1960s and vows to take them all home!

1935 Dodge

Sam and Hooper look at a 1935 Dodge Brothers truck. It sports a flathead 6 and if you listen close, you can hear Hooper say "They made 'em in Canada but not the States". Check out the wooden floorboards and crank open windshield!

A Minute At The Scrapyard

It's not usually this quiet at the scrapyard! It'll be a day or two before we hear the grasshopper sounds and the birds singing like you can in this video.

Pink Chevy Bel Air

Sam photographs a Chevy Bel Air with paint that has developed quite a patina to it's original pink hue. It's nice to see the green grass and hear birds singing in the background!

1967 GMC Scrapyard Truck:

Sam warms up his little picker truck at the scrapyard. This handy little helper came with a magnet to make easy work of collecting up smaller pieces of metal. Sam's nickname for this one is "Maggie."

Old Semi Trucks For Scrap:

Sam shows Hooper some old semi trucks and points out the big 6 cylinder gas engine in what remains of a vintage White chassis. Unfortunately these trucks are destined for the scrap yard. We are not sure of the makes or models of all of them, but these old rigs sure are interesting!
